Drum Set Equipment List

Rogers logo

I do love Rogers drums. I got mine (1966 Holiday model) in 1983, when thin-shelled maple drums were definitely NOT in vogue, especially with Champagne Sparkle finish! (Of course, now they're very IN again...) That look was really not in style, so I removed the coverings and refinished the maple shells (killing any future "vintage" value; oh well...). The old Swiv-o-matic hardware was not holding up well, so it was replaced with Yamaha tom holders, which have the same diameter and hex shape as the Rogers. Soon after that I started using RIMS mounts, and the tone of the drums improved greatly. While birch drums have that wonderful articulation, for toms and bass drums I just LOVE the warm sound of thin maple shells. Call me primitive, but I really like it when the drums go Boom! :o)

You may have noticed in the list of drums that one was 22x18. Well, since Rogers never built one that size, I had to do it myself. If you're interested in that story please go my Bass Drum page. You can also find links to drum sites at the bottom of my Music page, and at my Handdrums page as well.
